Kaws - Everything Else

go and see. because i am.
Here are some photos of Tara McPherson and her 48″ custom Dunny during a live painting session at the KR Pirate Store in NYC a few days ago. All I have to say is I wish I had gone and does anyone know if kid robot actually sells the 48″ Dunny to the public? Also, how amazing does Tara look?

So all I have to say is who’s coming with me?!
Was anyone else bored by this? I love love love the dress above and the shoes, but for the most part I was really disappointed. I thought I’d post some pics of what was MAYBE cute, to get anyone else’s opinion. Did you see that neon green houndstooth dress? Gah!! A lot of people are not happy with Marc!
I really love that hot pink bag. The coat is cute.
Again only saving factor of this look is the shoes.
Yellow potato sack or hot dress?
As NY Fashion week comes to close, let’s look back at 2 fabulous shows, that had some highs some lows … but over all I was definitely buzzed. haha. OK Bad jokes aside let’s start with some Rodarte! This post is like 11 pages long but I’ve added some cuts so don’t bitch!
The clothing was amazing. Not wearable by most women today but still, just beautiully done. It’s nice to see things like this when you have been looking at mostly babydolls and potato sack dresses for a week. However I think it’s safe to say that the star of the show were the SHOES. Rodarte teamed up with Christian Louboutin to make these BRAZILLIANT* shoes. Imagine these with a great pair of jeans, a wifebeater and a smile. Ok maybe not a wifebeater, but you get my point. They are like superhero shoes and I mean that in a good way.
*Brazilliant: Amazingly brilliant.
But the shoes weren’t the end. I’m seriously thinking about picking up a pair of motorcycle gloves and customizing them immediately. IMMEDIATELY.
Now onto Anna. Oh Anna Sui, how I love you. Seriously if I had no inhibitions whatsoever I would dress like this. I would so be that hippie who never realized the 60’s ended and just “kept on keepin on”. The styling is over the top but there are some great things in this collection, that just makes me want to go tie a headband around my head and hot glue a big black rose anywhere I possibly can. ![]()

Twinkle
I really liked this collection overall, it was simple but a few pieces stuck out to me. I guess I’m just a sucker for a good print. In fact most of my wardrobe consists of black basics and a bazillion printed dresses and tops. I’ve also been addicted to gray recently. Like gray is the new black. Duh.
Last night Sheena, John and I attended the launch party for the Spring 2008 JanSport Artist Series collection. The two artist chosen this time were Julie West and JoeX2.
The collection is very nicely done, they paid attention to a lot of details and the bags end up being really special. They are limited edition and each bag is numbered.
A great part of the event was the the live painting by JoeX2 along with Julie West and a live performance by Ladybug Mecca (from Digable Planets) which was awesome!
After the party we went to go see Bullymouth perform. It was a good night.

the finished painting by JoeX2 with Julie West
A bazillion more photos after the break …

“Starting with a blank canvas and complete artistic freedom, five talented and diverse artists prove that a backpack is a work of art. The result is this unique limited edition series, each pack showcasing an original visual voice.”
The Jansport Artist Series currently features art from Chris Yormick, Bryon Brown, Fette, Tracy Tubera, and Damian Fulton. And it looks like they are about to introduce some new artists including Julie West at their upcoming launch party. More details to follow!!
Thanks are due to my friends and family who have been there for me in the hard times and the good times. I love you all.
I’m in pennsylvania at my mom’s house eating some good turkey and some fabulous pie. I hope you all are with people you love. <3 GMR
This week has been bad for me … I have been trying to deal with the events in my life in positive way. I can’t help but think that these events are a sign to start doing the things that I want to do with my life and stop trying to please other people.
But despite all the bad things that I am going through today was a truly uplifting day for me. I met one of my favorite artists ever, a true inspiration to everything I myself create: Junko Mizuno
It was awesome finally meeting her and telling her how much her work means to me. Shes signed my 2 new Kidrobot/Junko dolls and some of her comics that I own.
Take a look at the toys after the break …
