XOXO images from Process Recess

Chronicle Books has teamed up with another amazing artist, James Jean for their art postcard book series. The book is titled XOXO and will feature some of James’ best stuff and some never before published pieces. XOXO is expected to be in stores either late summer or fall of 2008. If you aren’t familiar with James’ art then you should definitely check it out! I personally love and collect all the covers and drawings he does for the FABLES graphic novel series.

Chronicle Books has released some great postcard books by other artists including:  Yoshitomo Nara, Adrian Tomine, Jordan Crane and Ai Yamaguchi.

I happen to own the Ai Yamaguchi postcard book and the artwork and quality is incredible. You may notice Ai’s artwork from her collaboration with Shu Uemura. She is an incredibly talented illustrator and painter whose work I really freaking adore.

Education

“The word education derives from the Latin word ‘educare’ which means to draw out that which is in. That means whatever there is to know you already know, it just has to be brought out of you in a certain way. In ancient times, the methods used to educate included music, story telling, writings, pictures, dance, and real life situations that involved a lot of interaction between student and teacher. So why is our educational system today structured to force information into us as opposed to drawing it out of us? Because the Matrix doesn’t want you to rely on what you know naturally, it wants you to rely on what you have been artificially inseminated with. It only wants you to access files that have been downloaded into your brain, and not tap into the files that are encoded in your DNA that would give you access to infinite knowledge. From pre-school to high school, we are downloaded with the basic educational package of science, history, reading and writing. Math is universal, but the way that it is taught to us stifles our ability to master it properly and use it to unlock the Matrix. Albert Einstein said, “Math is the key to the universe.” If that’s the case, then miseducating  us when it comes to math is the Matrix’s number one priority. From an early age, we are placed in overcrowded classrooms with dim fluorescent lighting and boring teachers as part of a dumb down process to manufacture robots. The hallways and lunchroom are gloomy, and it’s no coincidence that they resemble prison cells and mess halls. If we follow the program set up by the Matrix successfully, that’s exactly the course of destination for many of us, school to prison. We’re flooded with information and then instructed to memorize it at a rapid pace. We are then tested to make sure we have accepted this information  as truth. This is the basis of our education, the better your memory, the more you can excel under this system. However, that’s exactly the plan, have their information seep deep down into your memory bank of your subconscious mind so that you begin to act on what you have downloaded. Once we finish the initial 12 step program (high school), we move on to more advanced levels of brainwash programming. So it’s safe to say that going to school will only make you dumber. And the further you advance, the dumber you become. because it only shows how much you have accepted the programs that the Matrix has set up to control you. You are then paid very well for following orders and keeping the Matrix strong. It’s important that we become “free thinkers” and go against the grain of the Matrix because that’s the only way we can short circuit that system.” excerpt from Hip Hop Decoded by The Black Dot

I don’t agree with this 100% simply because I do feel that going to school is somewhat beneficial. Education is the key to absolute personal freedom, HOWEVER the level of education provided in this country leaves much to be desired. Also, you can learn so much from life without ever stepping a foot in a classroom,  just read a damn book or two. I also resent the fact that a college degree is somehow a “golden ticket” to success when there are plenty of hard working incredibly talented and brilliant people on this planet who have never attended college and yet they are disregarded by the system. Bottom line, just educate yourself whether it be in a conventional way or your own way. You have to make your own reality, no one will do it for you and don’t be a robot!
