True Obsessions: Spring 08 Nails

I confess, I am a nailpolish addict.

I have ALOT of it and I am always looking for new shades to try. Although back in my tween days, I used only black or red and on top of that, I would never remove it… just letting it chip away and apply a new coat. (tisk tisk) I remember back then wearing black nailpolish was a big no-no. People would just look at you weird, and then out of nowhere all these celebrities started wearing it and then it became OK because Allure and Vogue said so. What’s up with that? But anyhoo, nowadays I like to wear colors that are a contrast but also complimentary (if that makes any sense) to what I’m wearing. So here is my long wordy post on some shades I have tried and what you may want to try yourself:

Yellow, White, Gray, Navy Blue, Fuschia & Bright Pink

Read about what colors I’ve picked up recently after the break…

-OPI’s “Need Sunglasses” : A really bright yellow gloss, takes more than the usual 2 coats to get an opaque look since yellow tends to be a more transparent color, looks great with grays and blues as a complimentary shade or hot pinks and reds as a contrast. I personally love OPI, they have one of the largest color collections available and great quality for the price

-OPI’s “Kyoto Pearl” : A semi sheer white with light shimmer. I actually purchased this last year for a summer shade, it looks great with a tan, super chic with an all black outfit, good for a contrasting shade to pop against purples or greens. If you are looking to buy white polish, try and stay away from very opaque shades, because it will most likely look as if you’re wearing White Out.

- Rescue Beauty Lounge’s “Concrete” : Gray nail polish is just starting to show up in beauty trends, this spring it’s bigger than ever, Rescue Beauty Lounge’s nailpolishes are some of the best available, they dry incredibly quick, have a strong color pigment, they look exactly the same on your nails as they do in the bottle and best of all they are long wearing so chips and cracks are few and far between. I have a couple different shades from them and “Concrete” is by far my favorite. It is a light matte gray. I have been wearing it so much lately and it looks beautiful when wearing yellows, purples or pinks, incredibly sharp and modern when worn with all gray

-Chanel’s “Blue Satin” : A deep deep navy shimmer, I have Chanel’s Black Satin and Noir Ceramic as well, and to be honest this isn’t my favorite out of the three. Inside it looks almost black, and sure outside you get the pretty blue shimmer but obviously I am not outside all of the time so it’s kind of a let down, my second problem with this nail polish is that it chips REALLY easily unless you add a clear topcoat every other day, which is sort of annoying. Anyways, if you are wondering what to wear with this shade try red or white, very nautical!

-OPI’s - “All That Razzberry” - I LOVE this color. It’s the perfect fuschia, with just the right mix of hot pink and purple, this looks great with yellow, red, and especially grays. So girly and fabulous!

Purchase OPI online at Head2Toe or Ebay

Purchase Chanel online on their website or Ebay

Purchase Rescue Beauty Lounge on their website

I have also been interested in trying Orange but have yet to find the right shade. I want to avoid looking “Halloween” or too Jersey Shore circa 1992. Any suggestions?
