Be Kind Rewind comes out today and if you know anything about me then you know I am absolutely in love with Michel Gondry. I actually met him at a Bjork concert (can you believe that!) and he was so nice … I wanted to say “Hi I Love your work and it really inspires me” but instead I said something like “Uhhh Hi I like your stuff” but he just laughed and shook my hand and gave me that “Everything will be OK” look. What a great human being! You will also know that Mos Def happens to be a personal hero of mine. SO needless to say I will be going out immediately to watch this movie. I always thought that Jack Black was one of the funniest people on the planet and over time it seems he has lost some of that spunk that made me like him in the first place but hopefully this movie can restore some of my faith in him.
Michel Gondry also recently opened Be Kind Rewind(yes, identically titled to the film), an exhibition at New York’s Deitch Projects.
For the exhibition, Michel Gondry will be recreating the video store in the gallery, complete with a back lot containing a variety of movie sets where visitors can make their own renditions of films. All videos created during the exhibition can be viewed in the gallery. About the project, Gondry states, “I don’t intend nor have the pretension to teach how to make films. Quite the contrary. I intend to prove that people can enjoy their time without being part of the commercial system and serving it. Ultimately, I am hoping to create a network of creativity and communication that is guaranteed to be free and independent from any commercial institution.”

My button shop is now open for business FINALLY after procrastinating and tinkering with it for a couple of weeks. All the buttons are $1.00 and fabulous! Some of my favorites are:

The “Tunic” Set in Red was recently featured on Badge Review and Allmightys and I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for that!!
I will be adding some of my older designs soon. So check back! Also a BIG thanks is due to all the folks who have been buying my buttons in this past year, with a website or not! I’d be homeless without you. Peace & <3 GMJ
This is Kanye West’s new video Flashing Lights directed by Spike Jonze. The full video premiered tonight on BET. ugh of course .. but anyways its pretty sick. I love Spike Jonze, he’s directed some of m favorite Bjork videos!
The Fafi for M.A.C. Collection has already hit stores and I’m so thrilled to see that M.A.C has created a small line of toys to go along with the collection. We all know that vinyl art toys have been a huge part of Fafi’s artistic career and its great to see her continuing this theme throughout her collaborations. While I was working for LeSportsac I saw the prototype for the LeSportsac x Fafi toy but it was never released due to a longggg list of reasons. But I love her toys and these are a steal at $9 USD each. Fafi toy collectors, you should really get these now before they sell out. I can completely see these being triple the price on Ebay in a couple of months. Visit the Fafi x M.A.C. website and click on “Collection” to order these super cute toys and of course the great makeup! I think I’m gonna head out tomorrow and pick some stuff up before it’s all gone!

Was anyone else bored by this? I love love love the dress above and the shoes, but for the most part I was really disappointed. I thought I’d post some pics of what was MAYBE cute, to get anyone else’s opinion. Did you see that neon green houndstooth dress? Gah!! A lot of people are not happy with Marc!
I really love that hot pink bag. The coat is cute.
Again only saving factor of this look is the shoes.
Yellow potato sack or hot dress?
As NY Fashion week comes to close, let’s look back at 2 fabulous shows, that had some highs some lows … but over all I was definitely buzzed. haha. OK Bad jokes aside let’s start with some Rodarte! This post is like 11 pages long but I’ve added some cuts so don’t bitch!
The clothing was amazing. Not wearable by most women today but still, just beautiully done. It’s nice to see things like this when you have been looking at mostly babydolls and potato sack dresses for a week. However I think it’s safe to say that the star of the show were the SHOES. Rodarte teamed up with Christian Louboutin to make these BRAZILLIANT* shoes. Imagine these with a great pair of jeans, a wifebeater and a smile. Ok maybe not a wifebeater, but you get my point. They are like superhero shoes and I mean that in a good way.
*Brazilliant: Amazingly brilliant.
But the shoes weren’t the end. I’m seriously thinking about picking up a pair of motorcycle gloves and customizing them immediately. IMMEDIATELY.
Now onto Anna. Oh Anna Sui, how I love you. Seriously if I had no inhibitions whatsoever I would dress like this. I would so be that hippie who never realized the 60’s ended and just “kept on keepin on”. The styling is over the top but there are some great things in this collection, that just makes me want to go tie a headband around my head and hot glue a big black rose anywhere I possibly can. ![]()

This is a new Fendi window display at Bloomingdale’s 59th St featuring Fendi Bearbricks. Thought it was pretty cute!
